Free-tier headroom
Google resets these on different clocks — MONTHLY allowances reset on the 1st, DAILY allowances reset at midnight Pacific.
OneDrive events cost more calls than Google ones. Google hands out one upload token per batch; OneDrive needs a fresh pre-authorised URL for every single photo, so a 200-photo OneDrive event spends ~200 calls where the same event on Google spends a handful. Still far inside the free tier — but if “Calls by type” looks high, check upload-session first.

Provider API calls today
Calls we make out to Google and Microsoft. These are a separate quota from everything above, and they don't track our own call counts: one slideshow poll is one API call to us but one Google Photos call as well — every 20 seconds, for every screen left open. A screen running all day is thousands of Photos requests behind a single cheap-looking route.
Google Photos has a hard daily project quota; run out and every slideshow stops at once. Microsoft Graph has no fixed daily cap — it throttles dynamically with 429s. Photos quota · Photos traffic
